TechOps Shield · Fractional IT Leadership

Your IT. Automated. Protected.

I give South Florida small businesses part-time IT leadership and AI automation, so their systems run clean and their team stops doing busywork by hand.

Most small businesses don’t need a full-time IT director. They need a senior person who owns the technology — security, cloud, network, and the day-to-day decisions — a few focused hours a week. That’s TechOps Shield. One accountable expert, enterprise-grade standards, sized for a small business.

Who this is for

Built for South Florida small businesses that have outgrown “the computer person.”

If technology decisions land on the owner’s desk — or on whoever is least busy — the business is carrying risk it doesn’t have to. TechOps Shield puts a senior IT leader in that seat, part-time.

Sound familiar?

  • No one owns IT. Passwords, renewals, backups, and vendor calls fall to whoever picks up.
  • Your team does busywork by hand — re-typing, copying between systems, chasing the same reports every week.
  • Security is a hope, not a system. MFA, patching, and backups are inconsistent — and one bad click could shut you down.
  • You’re paying for tools you barely use — Microsoft 365, cloud apps, and subscriptions nobody manages.

What changes with TechOps Shield

  • One accountable IT leader. A named expert who knows your systems, your vendors, and your priorities.
  • Busywork automated. Repetitive tasks handed to AI and workflow automation, so your team does real work.
  • Security hardened by default. MFA everywhere, patched systems, tested backups, controlled access.
  • Clean, documented systems. Cloud and network run to a standard — and written down, so nothing lives in one person’s head.

Services

Four services. One standard: clean, secure, automated.

Engagements are built around what your business actually needs — most clients combine leadership with one or two of the technical services below.

01

Fractional IT Leadership (vCIO)

Part-time IT direction from someone who has run enterprise systems for two decades. You get a real technology roadmap and an owner for every IT decision — without a full-time executive salary.

  • IT strategy, roadmap & budget planning
  • Vendor selection & management
  • Policies, documentation & standards
  • Plain-English reporting to ownership
02

AI Automation

Find the repetitive work eating your team’s week — data entry, document handling, follow-ups, reporting — and automate it with practical AI tools fitted to how your business already runs.

  • Workflow audit: where the hours go
  • AI assistants for documents & email
  • Automations across your existing apps
  • Team training so it actually sticks
03

Cybersecurity Hardening

Small businesses are the most-targeted and least-protected. TechOps Shield closes the gaps attackers actually walk through — identity, endpoints, email, and backups — to an enterprise standard.

  • MFA & identity lockdown (Microsoft 365)
  • Endpoint protection & patch discipline
  • Email security & phishing defenses
  • Backups configured — and restore-tested
04

Cloud & Network Administration

Day-to-day administration of the systems your business runs on, done right and documented: Microsoft 365, Azure, servers, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and the network underneath it all.

  • Microsoft 365 & Azure administration
  • Network, firewall & Wi-Fi management
  • User onboarding / offboarding done cleanly
  • Monitoring, maintenance & documentation

About

The person behind the shield

Dan Mack has spent more than 20 years keeping enterprise systems running — in banking, municipal government, managed service providers, and manufacturing, where downtime is measured in dollars and security failures make the news.

He started in the U.S. Air Force working F-16 avionics, where the standard is simple: the system works, every time, because lives depend on it. That discipline carried into a civilian IT career built on Microsoft and Cisco platforms — MCSE and CCNA certified — spanning servers, networks, cloud migrations, and security.

With TechOps Shield, Dan brings that same standard to South Florida small businesses: senior IT leadership on a part-time basis, plus hands-on AI automation that takes repetitive work off your team’s plate. No account managers, no ticket black hole — you work directly with the person responsible.

How it starts

Straightforward, from the first call

Step 1

Intro call

A short conversation about your business, your team, and where technology is helping or hurting. No pressure, no jargon — if it’s not a fit, Dan will say so.

Step 2

Systems review

A look under the hood: security posture, cloud and network setup, and the manual work your team repeats every week. You get the findings in plain English, ranked by risk.

Step 3

Clean up & automate

Fix the risks first, then automate the busywork, then keep it running clean — with ongoing part-time leadership so it stays that way as you grow.

FAQ

Questions owners ask first

What does “fractional” actually mean?

You get a senior IT leader for a set number of hours each week or month instead of a full-time hire. Same ownership, same accountability — sized for a small business. Call Dan and he’ll walk through what that looks like for a business your size.

We already have someone who “does our computers.” Is this different?

Yes. Break-fix help reacts when something breaks. Fractional leadership prevents the break: strategy, security standards, vendor oversight, documentation, and automation — the layer most small businesses are missing above day-to-day support.

What kind of work can AI actually automate for us?

The repetitive, rules-based work: drafting and sorting email, turning documents into data, generating routine reports, copying information between systems, and answering the same internal questions over and over. The systems review identifies your highest-value targets first.

Where do you work — on-site or remote?

TechOps Shield is based in Fort Lauderdale and serves small businesses across South Florida. Most administration and automation work is handled remotely; on-site time is available locally when hands-on work is needed.
